CASTLEMAINE FRINGE FESTIVAL 2019
Castlemaine

Start: Fri 15th March | End: Sun 31st March

With a rock solid program of local talent, the Castlemaine Fringe is a celebration of the more adventurous side of life! There will be incredible artists and performers over the seventeen days of the Festival, beginning with the Opening Night party on Friday the 15th of March. Local act the Bliss Bombs will wow with their burlesque comedy cabaret Domestic Bliss followed by funky disco band Wonder Woman and late night DJ Vibemaster on the decks - see you on the dance floor!

Three plays are scheduled, including CAKE: a Journey of Fluid and Frosting, about a woman who falls in love with a cake. And it loves her right back...probably! (23rd & 24th March.) If messy romances aren’t your thing, Eagle’s Nest are bringing the tragedy by Euripides, Women of Troy for two performances only, 16th March. We’re also lucky enough to be co-hosting La Mama Mobile’s new play, Ladies of the Bay (March 29th& 30th.)
Of course, it’s not a festival without music and do we have MUSIC!! With a fabulous line-up of diverse musicians and performers from Blues, Country, Folk, Cuban, R&B, Jazz cabaret and more!

Fringe began with visual art almost thirty years ago, and in keeping with tradition, numerous group and individual exhibitions of paintings, collage, jewellery and sculpture are on view including a community interactive art project: a giant ‘Nest’ made with donated articles of fabric of significance. Another highlight will be the street art projections on landmark buildings within Castlemaine.

The Festival concludes with a huge Garden Party in the lovely leafy Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, with bands, performances, artist market and an open mic session.
