The Yolngu word, Balnhdhurr means a mark made as a sign for people to follow. When one group goes ahead and wants to leave a message for those following, an impression (a sign) is scratched into the ground, directing future viewers to follow the right path.
This celebratory exhibition showcasing Yolngu respect for clan and country. Featuring master works by artists from the Yirrkala Print Space in Northeast Arnhem Land, this exceptional exhibition reveals how the sharing of contemporary stories and passing on of creation stories and law have been achieved through the medium of printmaking.
Held in the Castlemaine Market Building this exhibition is free. Presented by Artback NT in association with Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Arts.
