A scenic 2 km walk with views of the township of Maldon and historical facts.

Castlemaine Maldon Trail

The Castlemaine to Maldon Trail allows walkers and cyclists to enjoy stunning natural surroundings as they travel alongside the historic Victorian Goldfields Railway.The 17.7 km walking and cycling trail links the shire's largest towns of Castlemaine and Maldon. Look out for the steam train as you walk, run or ride the trail alongside the historic goldfields railway.

The New Beehive Mine Maldon
The self guided tour of the Beehive Mine overlooks the township of Maldon and is only minutes from the centre of town.

Muckleford Forest Walk to the Red White & Blue Mine
A easy 5 km walk through box-ironbark forest to Dunn's Reef and the Red White and Blue Mine, through an area rich in history, birds and wildflowers.

Maldon Rediscovered 
Now available, Maldon Rediscovered online walking tours for mobile devices produced by Maldon Museum & Archives. This app guides visitors around Maldon's historic buildings and tells a little of the history. It is internet-based so there is nothing to download and it's always up to date. Getting to our Region


Easily located in Central Victoria, the region is less than 90 minutes north west of Melbourne and conveniently accessed by road and rail.

Stunning villages and towns are located close by, making the region an ideal base from which to explore Central Victoria.
